Note: a feeling of thirst is not always the first symptom of dehydration to occur. Thirst can sometimes occur when you are moderately dehydrated. Be alert for other signs and symptoms of dehydration (such as a dry mouth, dizziness and tiredness) as these may happen before you become thirsty.

How to Avoid Dehydration

To properly understand how to avoid dehydration, you have to first understand some of the causes of dehydration. Dehydration commonly occurs when the body has lost at least 2% of its body weight in fluid loss. Some of those causes can be vomiting or diarrhea, prolonged physical activity, fever, or clinical conditions.

Always aim to drink between 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, and try to avoid drinking excessively sugary drinks which can interfere with the re hydration process. An oral rehydration solution, like Hydralyte, is the most effective way to replace fluid and electrolytes when you are dehydrated. These are some really good ways to avoid dehydration.
